About our Name – Every Lifted Voice is inspired by the black national anthem Lift Every Voice and Sing. The thought behind this name is centered around the many different movements, activist, and historians that have the goal of equality for all people, particularly black people. If you think of a choir, with the many different moving parts, and the accompaniment of the instruments that produce beautiful music, you may gain an appreciation for the name. Additionally, you may further understand that everyone has part in the many years’ long bout for change.
Our Beliefs are that the building blocks to a thriving community is family, faith, and local businesses. Our goal is to invest our efforts into underserved communities and revive not just the household family but the neighborhood family.
Your donations will help with our initial and ongoing action items. We have so much we want accomplish and realize that we need to build up to our larger goals. To start we will provide career development opportunities, exposing young men and women to different opportunities and provide a path to same. Next we want to award scholarships to deserving individuals and/or programs that provide athletic training and/or academic tutoring. Many students don’t get the opportunities for exposure, additional training, or test preparation. Together we can help create access to these resources, providing greater talent pools.
